Description: First part of this study deals with mechanism of xylanase pretreatment on pulp. Changes in internal arrangement of hemicelluloses (mannan, xylan) through the fibre wall before and after enzyme treatment (xylanase from Trichoderma viride) were investigated by using the method of chemical peeling. Radial distribution of hemicelluloses in the outermostlayers of fibre wall will be shown and discussed in view of underlying mechanism of hemicellulase pretreatment. In the second part a new method for determination of kinetic data of enzymatic reactions in pulp or model substrates will be presented. Using a flow injection chromatography system it was possible to record the total amount of released carbohydrates as a function of time. Collected data were used to form kinetic equations.
