[n.d.] My Dear Mrs Davis- Enclosed you will find two book marks, one of which I send, the other Mrs Ward desires you to accept, with her love – You will understand that we do not send these on account of there [sic] great merit, or utility, but just to say that you are not forgotten in by time us – I intended to have commenced my communication in time to have told you some of the news of the day – but it is to [sic] late now to write much more than is necessary – I have taken care to instruct your husband in all that I know of it – but I shall not wonder if his business by the way, and the joy of seeing you & George, should make him forget it all – Charles sent almost two weeks ago, by Mrs Colburn, to Peoria, for a book for George – Mrs Colburn has been detained by bad weather - & I have but little hope of her coming in time to send the book – this is a sad disappointment to Charles, we should have prepared some thing else if we had not depended on Mrs Colburn’s return – I wish very much that you would write during your husbands absence – You will prehaps [sic] wish to know what my prospects are for the future, & I can assure you that up to this time I have positive proof of not being in a thrifty way– Please to accept a great deal of love from Mr Robinson & Myself – Charles wishes George to come & help him play with the wagon his uncle Bradner gave him – Do not forget your friend Latricia Part of: David and Sarah Davis Family Correspondence -- Illinois Wesleyan University -- ALPL https://www2.illinois.gov/alplm/library/collections/Pages/Manuscript.aspx
