  • Description: Smaller companies are getting more options to install security technology that rivals systems used by businesses with large IT shops. Symantec last week introduced a version of its Gateway Security appliance aimed at small and midsize companies. The 1620 and 1660 SGS appliances will support 100 to 200 modes, respectively, and feature the same security software as the enterprise-grade 5600 series appliances. The new appliances complete Symantec's SGS line and offer full inspection firewall, SSL and IPsec VPN, gateway virus protection, anti-spam, intrusion prevention, and content filtering.
