  • Description: The fabrication of S-doped Nb 2 O 5 nanostructured thin film coated on carbon fiber paper via sol–gel dip-coating method is described. Upon S-doping, the absorption extends well into the visible region. The resulting S-doped Nb 2 O 5 nanostructured thin film is characterized by cyclic voltammetry, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, reflectance spectroscopy (UV–DRS) and thermal analysis (TG–DTG). Electrochemical characterization shows an active electrochemical response indicating an induced charge transfer across the Nb 2 O 5 /solution interface thus forming two anodic peaks and a cathodic peak. This interesting and significant observation is understood in terms of band bending due to sulfur doping of Nb 2 O 5 as well as to the annealing temperature.
