  • Description: Method for feeding of trunks prior to their cross-cut marking and cutting into saw logs and pulp wood, preferably after the root end of the trunks has had any rotten parts removed by cutting if necessary, where the dimensions of the trunks are determined by a measuring frame 15 or the like. The method is characterised in that each trunk 14 during the feeding is made to lie on a first conveyor 3 or the like and said measuring frame 15 is made to move along said first conveyor and a trunk 14 lying thereon, so that the measuring frame 15 measures the length of the trunk 14 and its diameter along the trunk in familiar fashion, after which the trunk is transferred by said first conveyor 3 to a second conveyor 31. Furthermore, it is characterised in that said measuring frame 15 is made to move along the trunk by means of a drive arrangement 17, 18, 19, wherein a pulse generator or the like connected to the drive arrangement 19 is used to detect the position of the measuring frame along the conveyor 31. The invention also involves an arrangement for carrying out the method.
