  • Description: Two-thirds of people buying the three-row Grand Cherokee L are new to the brand, Jeep said, while 58 percent of those getting the 4xe plug-in hadn't bought a Jeep before. Peffer, who became the brand's North America head in December, said the strategy for the Grand Cherokee is to "have a vehicle for everyone," with the conventional gasoline-powered two-row model, the 4xe and the L. U.S. sales of the Grand Cherokee family, as Jeep is marketing the trio, rose 9.5 percent last year to 244,594, In contrast, overall Jeep sales fell 6.1 percent to 642,924. Bringing the L out first was a strategic decision to help the new offering gain traction and build awareness, said Tavon Brooks, Jeep's vice president of product management.
