  • Description: This paper is the field observation of the thermal performance of two adjacent buildings representing different building techniques in villages around the NCR region investigating about reasons behind the increasing temperature of rural areas. To understand this basic cause of temperature elevation, nearby villages of urban hotspots have been identified with the help of remote sensing. After identifying the villages, a subjective assessment is done to measure the response of occupants about thermal comfort with the help of interviews and questionnaires. Then the objective assessment of two adjacent buildings representing two building techniques is done to measure the different factors affecting the thermal comfort inside the study area using field equipment which will help us to understand the superior thermal performance of mud architecture over contemporary concrete block construction. The result shows a better performance of vernacular architecture and how the concrete block construction plays a major role in temperature elevation of rural areas as villagers lose their thermal comfort in concrete houses and more energy is expected to spend on reaching thermal comfort in concrete houses.
