Description:
1495510 Paper HOECHST AG 11 Dec 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 53539/74 Heading D2B [Also in Division B2] A paper suitable for the manufacture of readily removable wallpapers and posters comprises two layers matted together, one layer being fibrous and containing 0.5 to 5.0 by wt. of a thermoplastic material flocculated from an aqueous dispersion thereof based on the wt. of said fibres, 40 to 80% by wt. of said, fibres being polyolefin fibres, and the other layer being a cellulosic fibre hanging paper. The polyolefin fibres may be polyethylene or polypropylene fibres or fibres of a copolymer derived from two or more olefins. The thermoplastic material may be derived from a natural or synthetic latex which is preferably emulsifier-free. The latex may be based on natural rubber, polychloroprene butadiene - styrene, or butadiene - polyacrylonitrile copolymers. The use of an emulsifier - free dispersion of a copolymer of ethylene and a salt of a mono - unsaturated acylamido - N - sulphonic acid is preferred. The paper may be made on an Inverform (R.T.M.) paper-making machine. In a typical example, a cellulosic fibre hanging paper layer is made from mechanical wood pulp. bleached pine sulphate cellulose and kaolin, and the other layer comprises polyolefin fibres bleached pine sulphate cellulose. and a copolymer of ethylene / methyl methacrylate / dipotassium - methacrylamide - N - sulphonate, which was precipitated using aluminium sulphate. the two layers being matted together to form the desired paper.
