  • Description: "Fountain Square is a twentieth-century American evocation of a European piazza. We may enter it from almost any point in the compass. It is within the city yet, apart, public yet private. Walls along most of its western and southern axes cut it off from the street. But where there are steps, they are low, easy, and inviting. We are almost pulled up them. The plaza itself is spacious, yet compact. Different levels break it up. We have a choice of places to sit, both public and semiprivate. The walls afford good vantage points for people-watching." Part of: Architecture in Greater Cincinnati -- University of Cincinnati -- Cincinnati Preservation Association
